     or Method of Operation.

 

When not to use Text-A-Tip

  • Text-A-Tip should not be used to report crimes that require immediate officer response or crimes in progress.

  • Text-A-Tip should not be used to report emergencies unless it is the only means of contacting emergency personnel.

  • Text-A-Tip should not be used to report traffic violations except in the case of Hit and Runs.

  • These type of calls need to be reported to 9-1-1. Callers can request to remain anonymous.

  • Text-A-Tip should not be used to report incidences that are not related to criminal activity.

  • Dial 800-531-9845.
  • Your call is forwarded to a telecommunicator at New Hanover County 911.
  • You supply the call taker with a password in case you want to follow up on your tip.
    The call taker forwards the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
